Hienossa elokuvassa vanha professori Isak Borg matkustaa Tukholmasta entiseen yliopistoonsa Lundiin ottamaan vastaan kunniatohtorin arvoa. Mukaan tulee hänen raskaana oleva miniänsä, joka aikoo erota miehestään. Matkalla he ottavat kyytiin kolme liftaria, joista yksi muistuttaa kipeästi Isakin nuoruudenrakastettua.
