עיבוד מחודש לקלאסיקה של דיקנס. הסיפור על "אוליבר טוויסט" ילד יתום אשר סבל קשות בבית היתומים בו גדל המנוהל ע"י אדון בומבל האיום, באחד מפרברי לונדון. הוא לא הסתדר עם איש ולכן ברח לו לעיר הגדולה אל לונדון. בודד וחסר פרוטה הסתובב לו ברחובות עד אשר נימצא ע"י ילדי בית מחסה הנשלט ע"י אדון פאגין הזקן (בן קינגסלי), אשר מלמד את הנערים הצעירים כיצד לגנוב ובתמורה נותן להם אוכל ומקום לישון. הוא עצמו דואג לרמות את הנערים ולקחת מהם את כל השלל. סיפור גניבה הזוי בחנות ספרים בלונדון, משפט עלוב, ורחמים של האדון הניגנב מיסטר בראונלו , הם ההתחלה של סדרת הרפתקאות אשר יובילו את אוליבר - לבסוף לדעת מיהו באמת ומיהי אימו שמתה, ואולי לחיים טובים יותר.
