Laura are parte de cea mai fericită zi din viața ei când reușește să cumpere și să redeschidă orfelinatul în care a crescut. Femeia descoperă că locul are un efect pozitiv asupra fiului ei: imaginația lui este tot mai dezvoltată. Dar, curând, își dă seama că jocurile pe care le joacă cu prietenul lui invizibil sunt dovada unei prezențe malefice. Când întâmplările din orfelinat amenință siguranța familiei, Laura cheamă o echipă de parapsihologi pentru a descoperi sursa acestora.
