Verdens mest frygtede monster dukker uventet op i Hong Kong. Dræbende flammer sluger alt på sin vej - ødelæggelsen er total. Og denne gang er uhyret ikke alene. En armada af blodtørstige godzillaer i menneske størrelse truer med at invadere planeten. Militæret står magtesløse over for den nye fjende. Desuden opdager videnskabsfolk, at monstret radioaktive hjerte risikerer at blive overophedet. Godzilla er en omvandrende atombombe i gigantstørrelse. Med mindre de kan nedkøle uhyret i tide, går jorden under i en gigantisk nedsmeltning!
